Children at AEIOU Foundation’s Gold Coast centre were thrilled to meet with Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) mascot Borobi earlier this week.
The very special visitor was showered with affection and high-fives in his visit to the classrooms during their daily autism-specific early intervention program.
Centre Manager Azra Halilovic said staff had been familiarising the children with Borobi throughout the week prior in preparation for the meet-and-greet.
“The children were a little star struck meeting Borobi in person, however the morning was a wonderful opportunity for them to put into practice the skills we are continually developing through our curriculum, particularly social skills, which prepares them for participation in the community,” she said.
“We thank Borobi and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games team for extending the friendship to the nearly 40 children attending AEIOU Gold Coast. It has certainly been a big highlight for them and their families.”
